California State License Board Permitting Process for HVAC Contractors and Installations
It is California law that any home HVAC installation is permitted and that the work is up to code. All California licensed HVAC contractors are required to get permits when installing or replacing a system and the city or county will verify proper installation. Building permits generate routine inspections to ensure safety and structural standards and that the system is properly installed, functioning efficiently and that it meets the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) testing and verification requirements, therefore complying with the State Building Energy Efficiency Standards.
How it Works
As of 2019 in California, all building departments require a qualified third party to verify that the system is performing as it was designed. When a contract with Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar is accepted, we will supply all of the project details to our permitting partner, Elem3nts. Elem3nts will then complete the application to obtain the permit and submit any required drawings and also register with CalCerts which is required by law. CalCerts regulates and confirms that the on-site Home Energy Rating System has been completed and confirms exemption and also that the HERS rater has uploaded the form to the site.
All associated permitting costs will be paid by the customer directly to the Elem3nts representative.
